The new british couple are bickering as they boil their potatoes. The Isrealies are sleeping still after being out all night. The Korean and Chinese guy just had rice together and are talking in English. The American is eating avacado spread on white bread. Everything's the way it is.

Lots of time at the pool in Santiago at The Happy House Hostel, lots of time to read. Just finished Imperial Bedrooms by Brett Easton Ellis. Although it didn't take long with this one, I love that moment when you understand exactly why the book is titled the way it is. Plus there are enough Los Angeles references to make one want to puke, a different version of name dropping, but to me, that was great. A great kind of puke. More on Brent Easton Ellis.

Rags to Riches.
We get a lovely invitation to stay at a Couch Surfers place in Las Condes, in Santiago. We leave on the bus from Vina Del Mar and arrive in Santiago an hour or so later. We are delighted at this beautiful part of Santiago! More photos to come.

We met Antionne while stopped on the side of the road buying honey. Antionne is building a Eco-Lodge on his property. His plan is finish the work by February, good luck Antionne! It will be pretty cool to check in later and see the progress. It truly is a beautiful business idea and no doubt it will be successful. The photos here show the view.

Herb Your Enthusiasm.

Chris shows us her herb garden that is part of a herb business. She is 1/4 owner of this business. The herbs are dried and sold at markets around Chile. It was pretty cool to see the tidy operation.

Sashimi Me The Money
After about an hour on the river, Christine catches a 38lb Salmon. Most people in the Gorge fish all season and never get one this size, if one at all.

And the most interesting part about this, is this is a Chinook Salmon, from our backyard in the Columbia River Gorge. About 27 years ago, Chileans brought Chinook down to Fish Farm. The Chinook they brought didn't grow fast enough so they tossed them in the Ocean. But they did just fine and now there is a nice population of Chinook from the Gorge waters.

Destination: Andes Lodge in North Patagonia
For the weekend we head about 300 miles south of Temuco to the Patagonias. 'Cousin' John is a fishing guide at the Andes Lodge. He offers all of us to stay for a night and fish.

Peddy Bear Sighting
It's really hard to get information about this group of people, everything online is super private or not available. If you don't have an idea of what this is, it's probaly better that way. It's still interesting to see a sighting of the spray painted symbol. It's not that often. Usually strategically placed, this was on a youth center of some sort.

Couchsurfing is a community of travelers. Cool as shit. Check it out CouchSurf.org. My first stay was at Phillip y Julia's in Downtown Santiago on Mac-Iver street. They were friendly and easy going.

Phillipe y Julia were working on putting a new door on the bedroom. It didn't get done in the time I was there haha.

Meet Matias
The Brits and I met up with a Santiago local, his name was Matais. He emailed me my second night there, because of connected with Couch Surfing. We had sushi and Pisco Colas at a near by Bar in the Barrio Brasil district. He then drove us over the Bella Vista district and had drinks and danced at the Bar Constitucion.

Matais showed us the guitar pick he got in London at the Cavern Club- where the Beatles first ever played.
